over the last few years i stopped buying cards for my dad to give my mom so of course she’s gonna be disappointed tomorrow but i refuse to bail him out anymore. his selfishness is his own fault

I think this is a bad mentality although I get it because my dad is similar. It’s not that they don’t think about it, it’s because they’ve learned that if they don’t do things or don’t do them right, people will fix it for them. Weaponized incompetence. There are men that run households and are true partners, so boiling it down to a gender thing is really just keeping dads from real accountability. At least that’s my perspective!

well that’s what i mean. they don’t think about it BECAUSE it’ll be fixed by their wives. their weaponized incompetence is “why would i do that, she’ll pick it up for me eventually”. also it’s predominately done by men / houseworld is overwhelming done by women, so i don’t agree that it’s inaccurate to call it a gender thing.
