Guys I always do skin prep and my makeup still is cakey. I need a foundation that works with DRYYYYYY skin. Haus labs doesn’t work for me it always ends up pilling off really gross. HELPPPPPPP. Is merit skin tint good??

I don’t want to ask and seem condescending, but what’s your skin prep routine? How long do you let your skin prep set before applying makeup? You’re using the same formula for products, like water with water, or silicone with silicone?

Dw you don’t seem condescending at all lol. I use a vanicream face wash, milky toner, vanicream moisturizer, spf. I let it sit for like 5 minutes between each pass. Everything should work together, I had a few ulta employees in store confirm with me cause I spent MONEYYY on it lol

I THINK it may be heavy product on top of heavy product. So I looked it up. Vanicream contains heavy product like petrolatum and forms a barrier on the skin meant to help lock in moisture. Spf ALSO forms a barrier. And then Haus is silicone right? Also heavy. Basically your products are slipping and sliding over one another with nothing to grip on (just speculation)

OHHH that seems plausible!! It’s def separating/slippery

Also if your skin is SUPER dry, the vanicream may be so heavy that it just layers, not actually absorbs. So maybe use like a pea sized amount? And apply your spf lightly?

Oh and if it helps, I use hyaluronic acid for hydration in my skin prep. I do a toner with hyaluronic acid, use a bit of azelaic acid, then use a thin layer of pond’s moisturizing cream. Then I do the same thing after washing my face at night, but I swap the azelaic acid for night retinol and then slather my moisturizer on thick.
