as someone who did immigrate legally i support this statement because what do you mean i could get stopped by ice and detained if i don’t have “proper” documentation on the spot and potentially accidentally deported and somehow the government will still find a way that they were in the right. We treat them equally if they’re here legally, and until I’m told otherwise, that’s wha I will assume they are. Now if I’m told they’re here illegally, then no they shouldn’t be here, so I wouldn’t be going there anyway to continue supporting their lifestyle of living here illegally. I treat legal immigrants with respect and kindness, I don’t pay illegals any mind bc they shouldn’t be here.

Don’t even bring up the “detained a 5-year-old” narrative — that’s pure spin. His father abandoned him to flee and stay here illegally. ICE stayed with the child, made sure he got proper care, and actually protected him. But somehow ICE is the villain? Meanwhile you’re fine defending a system that shelters criminals, traffickers, and repeat offenders before citizens and kids who actually need help. Make it make sense.

Were this any other administration, including his first one, I’d agree with you. But people are being murdered, citizens and legal immigrants are being deported (along with all of the deportations that happened even against judicial orders!), and all naturalization proceedings are on pause indefinitely, while he’s simultaneously trying to eliminate birth citizenship. Also, the consequences are only supposed to be deportation. There are many people dying in detention centers.

NONE OF US DID. But also, a family friend on his “approved pick up list” at school offered to take care of him as his dad was arrested, yet ICE insisted that they’d take better care of him.
