It icks me out because we as women don’t refer to them as “males”. Cus it sounds odd. How do they not feel odd saying the word “female”? in my head it is a gross word to say…like? Idk in the same way moist SOUNDS gross. It doesn’t even slide off the tongue nicely when combined in a sentence…it’s also kind of de-feminizing in the same way they find it emasculating to not be called men…is it not or am I just thinking to hard? Genuine question.
I generally don’t say this but sometimes I do because I get awkward when using the term girls or women when both don’t sound as correct. Like when someone is too old to be a “girl” liek what am I five years old calling you a girl? But also at the same time you’re too young for “woman” to not sound incorrect aswell. Idk maybe just me but I also agree saying female or male is generally weird
Bro whenever a woman mentions the hatred of the word, theres soo many comments & so much fighting like whyy, why cant men just respect that we dont like it, women dont purposely call men “males” on a large scale to purposely belittle them so why do we need to get into this nitty gritty of screenshotting the exact definition & fighting over technicalities, it is ONE word, & they sound dumb why call us by the SCIENTIFIC name, u sound like a loser “mother a female spoke to me today 🤓☝️”
It’s not supposed to be that deep though, most men that say females and they aren’t doing that to degrade you. I personally always call women women but we can’t control your feelings it’s not our fault you get mad at being called a female. Calll me a male and I’ll literally not care because that’s what I am. Why should I be mad at you calling me what I am when it’s even the medical term
it’s colloquially used to degrade and dehumanize women by reverting to simply using the biological term that’s applied to animals and plants… as opposed to the gendered human of woman/women. that’s the context its being used in, which we all can collectively agree is wrong and distasteful. hope this helps.
… it’s inherently implied as derogatory to refer to women collectively as “females” outside of a scientific professional context. men also have more social privileges so yes you’re right, they cannot be victimized in the current patriarchal system by terminology. women have always been treated as lesser beings in practice, in terminology, in medical science, in education, and more. unfortunately, it is quite deep, my child. wear a life vest next time.
Ok so women’s restrooms have these things called stalls so we don’t see each other’s genitals while using the toilet so frankly women don’t care what’s genitals are in there. Anyone who cares about what’s going on in a random person’s pants when they’re just trying to do their business is insane.
you know bathrooms are also for people with ostomy bags, catheters, etc. so like not everyone pulls out their genitals to use the toilet. some people don’t even have assholes lmfao 😂 i love talking science and human biology to people who act like knowing the difference between XX and XY means a strict binary system of a bathrooms functions 🤣
The bare bones issue is that female outside of the medical setting is used more often than not to demean women and reduce them to their gender. As you can probably tell from this comment section, men don’t like when you call them out on their bullshit and are feigning ignorance or calling it “not that deep”, which is really all a sign that they don’t want to lose their “covert” way of objectifying women.
ohh okay, because like when i typed out my comment i originally put “as a female..” because i personally don’t find it offensive like if someone said “why do most females like pink” or something like that but obviously to me if someone was like “all you females are bitches” i’d be upset or if it was used offensively but i completely understand why it can be offensive
I’m on the side of “just use women unless the situation calls for female”. Like in your example of “why do most females like pink” I’d ask why women couldn’t have been used because the question isn’t coming from a scientific perspective, though honestly the reaction the person who wrote the question has in response to that really tells me if it was meant as an insult or not.
yeah like if the person saying it was saying females like a slur or being rude and aggressive i’d be like okay bud calm down but if it’s like a kind calm person saying it i wouldn’t mind, i also don’t think most men think to hard about it or mean it in a rude condescending way unlike the other men who do so i don’t personally jump on anyone for using it unless it’s personally offensive or condescending yk
I wouldn’t say upset. More like disappointed. And I don’t get disappointed in statistics, only generalizations. Theres a huge difference. I did the study myself on my highschool. Men are less likely to care about what someone thinks about them, and women are less likely to care about what someone thinks pertaining to political or gender subjects
You didn’t backup your argument. That’s why I think this conversation is irrelevant. If you wish to be understood, you should give further explanation. When you asked to talk about America, I did as you wish, then you changed the topic to my downvotes. Maybe, your “study” received those results because you are someone who provokes others to ignore you by ignoring them first. Just a thought.
If people come to an agreement with those kinds of things, I get that- THAT is understandable. This guy has done plenty of other shitty things towards her(such as laughing at her late father’s funeral while her mother was sobbing), and it’s clear he says it in a way to talk down on her(in a bad way, if that makes sense?). I already don’t really like the guy because of the other stuff he’s done, and he kinda keeps proving my point by calling her names. Sorry for the misunderstanding!
You never know who’s joking and who’s not. A lot of women will call you an incel and a misogynist if you tell them things that you’re girlfriend likes but that they don’t. Like there was a post that says only he’s means yes and everything else means no. But when my gf says maybe she means yes cuz she says it in a sexual way. The post says maybe also means no. But that isn’t the case every time
It’s been said several times that we don’t care if it’s used in a medical setting, and I’m assuming from context that the military uses it in a similar way. We don’t care if we’re called females in those cases we just don’t want men calling us that when they’re clearly being derogatory and objectifying. Not that hard of a concept when you actually listen to what women say.
Facts. I joined to learn more about the female mind and have convos and talking points for my gf but every single post is I hate men, men suck, and I have a period. Nothing about romance, shopping, fashion, drama, nails, love island, Disney movies etc… How are the girls on here so different then the ones I talk to irl
well i literally said “you” meaning i was directly talking to one person but what i meant is that saying “i joined this group to talk about (insert stereotypical topics) and people are talking about (insert progressive conversation on misogyny)” is just a really clouded way to view being a woman and expressing it. part of being a women is facing misogyny. whether you think so or not, all women face misogyny in their life. i just think it’s kinda regressive to shut down those conversations.
I don’t use it bro cause I feel weird about calling women females too, but to say they’re misogynistic over that is a bit crazy. I mean I’ve accidently said female a few times in my life though but I wasn’t sitting there saying “let me dehumanize this creature hehe”. It’s just NOT that deep not everyone who says female is trying to degrade you
Nope you dont understand how grammar works. Referring to us using gender-based words such as “women” and “girl” actively acknowledge the identity we present ourselves. Essentially its more respectful because of that acknowledgement. Think of a scenario where someone mockingly calls you a “little girl” despite you being a grown woman. thats someone purposefully not acknowledging your age and status. Using the term “female” is similar except it reduces you to your sex and ignores identity.
Ohhhh so you just routinely ignore social cues then. With the whole being in a space for a certain identity that doesn’t match your own. And the refusal to accept “hey, this group doesn’t like me using a term I think is fine because it’s hurtful to them. Don’t care.” Do you also go in other places set aside for specific identities? Like female restrooms, gay clubs, and/or veteran bars?
Wdym “why does it matter what men call us” uh obviously I want to be treated with respect? Clearly you dont care about being respected and thats all fine and dandy for you, but you 100% cannot speak for the rest of us. Sure, there are forced gender roles since society has been built off of them, but its the thought that matters the most. Its the way men THINK about us that dictates our actions and feelings toward them.
you cant say this when youre saying men in america are oppressed dumbass. youre completely dismissing the insane amounts of misogyny that take place every day in america so complain about people justifiably talking shit about men. not all men but ALWAYS a man. you’re ignorant and narcissistic to think otherwise.
and thats all you have to say about real statistics? you dont want to face facts. all you care about is making yourself look as hated as possible. men arent more aware of these things, you’re only further proving the point everyone else in this thread is making. you’re being downvoted because you’re loud and wrong, not because you’re a man.
