that’s what many people don’t seem to grasp tho you can be in a serious long term relationship without ever getting married. i just think marriage is so outdated anyway especially for women i don’t understand the appeal

like i understand in a way bc i don’t want to date someone unless we wait for a while until having sex but i hate the concept of marriage and im surprised more women don’t. being expected to change your last name, go by mrs instead of ms, and be pressured to have kids is crazy to me

i’m very anti hookup culture too and it’s just as bad as purity culture. i’m pro sleep with whoever as long as you’re doing it safely and it’s with people who care about your well being even platonically

respectfully what’s the difference between a long term relationship with a man vs marriage if these are your issues? are you okay with marriage if a woman doesn’t change her last name and continues to go by ms? bc patriarchal expectations are there regardless if she gets married or not

knowing about the history of it (woman being traded off to man) and how it’s still rooted in some of the patriarchal traditions even if not everybody follows it. plus i just think weddings are a waste of money and the commitment afterwards is too much pressure
