as a formerly anxious freshman, i can promise you that you are not alone in this feeling. plenty of people are also anxious and worried they know no one. i don’t know if you’re in a dorm or apartment complex but try going to the welcome week events if your college has it- its okay to go alone, plenty of others are also going alone! you might even talk to some of the other solo people, but you don’t have to— it’s all about getting familiarity with new people & campus ! it’ll be a lot but you’ll-
tbh the way i got over my anxiety my first semester was forcing myself to go to events, usually alone at first. my roommate went home every weekend including opening weekend (she had family stuff going on) so i was truly on my own. i would find the events for freshmen, see where they were listed to be at, then i would use campus map and stuff to figure out how to get there, and i would usually meet someone else there bc that’s the point of those events! it’s also how i learned my campus
Remember MOST people are in this exact situation. I knew ZERO of my 3 other roommates my freshman year, it was fine. Then i knew ZERO of my next six roommates when I transferred 😅 it was also fine. It’s fun to meet new people and see where everyone comes from or how you can relate somehow. College is fun. Don’t stress yourself out, you’ll love it:)
genuinely everyone else feels the same way. everyone wants to make friends, everyone has some nerves, everyone wants to have a good time. literally just try to go to at least one thing a day ur first weekend, imo the only way u could go wrong is by holing urself in ur room and only leaving for meals. u dont have to party if u dont want to either, i didnt drink until halloweekend my first year. U GOT THIS !!!!!
