i think the more logical take is that we should be advocating for women’s and lgbtq rights globally because the old way of doing things can be and does change. queer people and women everywhere still have pride in their culture, nationality, and/or religion. to demonize their backgrounds is not only bigoted, but also assumes that cultural and religious practice is both black and white and static

people can recognize work and progress are needed without hating an entire part of their identity. i also doubt you’re actually knowledgeable in other cultures and religions and are just simplifying them into their worst, most politicized forms. i can’t help but think you’re also ignoring the role colonial countries have played in destabilizing other nations and setting them back. genocides, mass death, famine, and lack of centralized power tends to mess societies up

Yeah I could tell she had a few ‘cultures ‘ and ‘religions’ in mind and wanted to make bigoted generalised statements about all these cultures without doing any research.

yeah she thought she was slick trying to mask bigotry behind women and lgbtq rights. if she actually cared, she would be talking about how to protect people’s rights and looking for examples of how women and queer people are working on this already instead of just resorting to bigotry against other ethnicities and religions
