as a payroll tech, many ways it can happen. 1. garnishments on top of garnishments (each can only take a % but if you have a few of them they can add up) 2. tip based job (a few places i’ve seen employees get $0 on paychecks bc of tips and taxes, it’s still taxed but on your tax return is where you apply the deductions) 3. ppl genuinely work under 4 hours a pay period regularly
