Finally had the courage and opportunity to explore my liking for other women this year and both barely lasted 2 months before things blew up on some small ish. One was ageist and the other was a narcissist… it’s made me hesitant to want to keep trying Ngl… like all the things they say about lesbian relationships were coming a little too true and too fast in both of those relationships for me
I know the internet can be an echo chamber, but this community is just brutal on the boys sometimes and it doesn't make any sense to me. do they not have dads? brothers? male friends or role models? like the real world is not as bad as they make it out to be. I have positive interactions with men and women throughout my day and it's not as bad as everybody makes it out to be. I have very isolated negative interactions with men and women, but they're rare and isolated and I tend to forget about them rather quickly.
You are so right. I know so many guys in my life that are so upstanding and would never disrespect a women. But a also know a few that are unfortunately people I’d rather stay away from. Yet, the exact same thing can be said for women. Cause we are all just people. Some good, some bad.
girl i genuinely appreciate your perspective 🫶 and i honestly think there's a MUCH bigger conversation we need to be having about how society treats BOTH men and women. yes, men commit more violent crimes. nobody is disputing that. but what people seem to forget is that men are also disproportionately the VICTIMS of serious violence. according to UNODC and UN Women, approximately 80% of homicide victims worldwide in 2024 were men. and according to the US Bureau of Justice Statistics, about 57% of nonfatal violent incidents involving male offenders in 2024 had male victims. so clearly, male violence isn't exclusively, or even predominantly, directed at women across every category of violence.
now obviously women face disproportionate risks in domestic and sexual violence, and those experiences deserve to be taken seriously. i'm absolutely not dismissing that. but i think we also need to examine how society conditions men. from childhood, boys hear things like "man up," "stop crying," "don't be weak," and "stand up for yourself." masculinity gets associated with toughness, dominance, and sometimes aggression.
just like women face enormous societal pressure surrounding their bodies, appearance, and femininity, men face their own expectations about what it means to be a "real man." and those expectations can hurt EVERYONE. none of that excuses violent behavior. perpetrators should absolutely be held accountable. but maybe instead of turning this into men vs. women, we should be asking why our society continues reinforcing harmful expectations in the first place. because at the end of the day, men aren't just perpetrators in these statistics. they're victims too. and i genuinely believe we can advocate for women's safety while ALSO recognizing the struggles men face.
Omg do not talk to me about the literacy crisis. Op literally said “let’s stop the constant gender wars” which is a phrase almost EXCLUSIVELY used to reprimand women for criticizing men in a social context. Their phrasing delivers the message that women are overreacting for seeing men the way they do, which they’re not 😐
