I’ve always been bad at eye contact, I’ve always told my mom that I’m not shy I just never know what to say in social situations, and I used to run with my arms crossed because I didn’t know what to do with them. Yet she never had me tested for autism 😭

I also used to spin in circles all the time and then have to spin the other way. And I’d always pick at my lips continuously and still do. I always stare off into space and zone out. I alwayssss had accidents as a kid because I was scared of the toilet. Plus so many others signs. So. Many.

I have high-functioning autism and struggle with maintaining eye contact too. My mom first noticed when I was a kid because I used to walk on my heels—I didn’t like how the floor felt, I would also cover my ears to loud noise or freak out if things didn’t go to plan😭

Yeah but they weren’t necessarily caused by the feeling of being anxious, literally just from a lack of knowing what to do. I do think that caused social anxiety eventually.
