well, they go to jail for being LGBT advocates, millions live in absolute poverty especially outside of tiered cities millions of people still live in carved out caves in squander. the govt can seize anything from them at any time legally and nobody can practice religion freely they have to attend state approved churches with edited texts and strict oversight. not to mention an unbelievable level of surveillance state. the culture, tech and infrastructure is beautiful but there’s a dark side

china IS a beautiful country with incredible culture and food, amazing people, and certain great quality of life perks but like #1 said there are severe consequences for living outside of the dictated norm, both legally and socially. racism is rampant, the beauty standards are entirely impossible, don’t even get me started on the wealth gap. the competition for a job or a good school is borderline torturous.

I’m learning mandarin and have been studying China for years nothing I said is untrue. This isn’t an academic paper I don’t have to add nuance. the difference is we already know that to be true in the US, I was just saying it’s not all rainbows and sunshine like your post made it seem. so what your point was of saying that is beyond me. please start something wm I’m bored.

it’s belittling and quite honestly a little bit dehumanizing to trivialize the struggles of the people of another nation to the point of imposing a sort of naivety upon them. just because you can’t see past the rose tinted glass doesn’t mean people don’t suffer under the system they’re forced to participate in
