On the off chance some of the members here with transphobic mindsets choose to read this, I think it might help. This is my own growth because in some ways I used to think like that too. I don’t anymore, thank god. When my now-friend informed me she was trans and was experimenting going by he/she pronouns, I had a VISCERALY negative internal reaction to that- which shocked me, because I considered myself super accepting. But thanks to therapy, I went “woah, ok, why do I feel like this” and 1/?

Realized that I had a LOOOOTT of internalized misogyny and baggage surrounding how much weight I put on “suffering” as part of womanhood, and other bio-essentialist bullshit that ultimately only reinforced the walls of the box society has shoved women into. Differences can be acknowledged and discussed without those differences leading to hate and invalidation. The “and then they came for me” poem is relevant as ever. It is possible, and healthy, to move on from transphobia. 2/2
