Does anyone else really struggle with body dysmorphia? It’s like soul crushingly bad for me and I’ve looked back at old pictures of me that I hated and realized I looked fine but I still struggle. Does anyone have advice or just shared experience?

Dude I had a horrible ED back in middle and hs. I worked out like crazy and thought I was fat up until my junior year when I noticed I was more muscular. I became a victim of freshman 15 (or 25 in my case) lost my muscle mass and gained so much weight. My body dysmorphia is back by 10000% and even though I’m in therapy it’s so hard to just go ahead and only chew gum and drink water from now on.

Me too, I try to rationalize things like how we are our own worst critics and how the way we look isn’t who we are but I just want to feel beautiful

That’s not what I meant, but I’m sure you aren’t ugly the only woman I’ve ever really seen as physically ugly has been myself

I miss my highschool body so much and it doesn’t make it any better than I have new stretch marks now and I am trying to get back into the gym but nothing I wore before fits me now and it is killing me so much

Me too!! I thought I was so big when my ed was at its worst and now I realize I really wasn’t. I’ve never really known what I look like. I’m also trying not to go back to my old ed habits because I was so unhappy at that time but it’s not easy

Yeah it feels like there’s no way to be happy with our weight yk. Also doesn’t help seeing someone different every time I look in the mirror or at a picture of myself

I’ve been trying to lose weight for almost a year now. I have officially lost 10lbs already and I am so happy about that but I still struggle with my body image bc I have stretch marks everywhere now in places I didn’t have them before. I have them up and down my triceps and biceps and it is killing me inside bc it is just more proof I got bigger after high school.

I know that but not having them since middle school to now having deep purple ones all over the inside of one arm is killing me and people notice it too. And it’s isn’t like I didn’t get bigger I went from 135lbs to 170lbs in a year. And as someone who is short too, it’s noticeable.

They will fade over time to more of a silver color that will blend with your skin regardless of skin tone. they won’t be that noticeable forever. Just try your best to be patient with yourself even though it’s hard
