Nursing student here. I’ve met with a lot of male physicians and they want to remain as bipartisan as possible. He’ll review your chart and talk about what you want to talk about specifically. Medical professionals are trained to focus assessments on chief complaints given by the patient. Ask specific questions and concerns, get specific answers and labs given back. You’re okay. Being a student has taught me a lot about men in medicine honestly. If he’s weird, you’ll know off rip.
ALSO. It isn’t made known enough that you CAN request a female in the room for the assessment whether it be a nurse or doctor. Tell them at reception and it is possible, wait time might be longer but it’s worth it for your comfort especially if you don’t know him. They won’t take offense One of the first things we were taught was how to make sure patients are comfortable in an environment, and if he makes you uncomfortable it’s telling. Just be vocal. You’re okay and will be okay<3 good luck
Love you girlie and I hope it goes well!! Men doctors scare me too & I rarely schedule with them if I don’t have to. But idk working in hospitals has taught me they’re really not all weirdos and do just wanna help and not make you uncomfortable. I fear when you’re book smart enough to become a doctor you can lack social skills or awareness so I think sometimes they’re awkward on accident 😭
