Yeah it’s so interesting because you can find artists who are actually good people and 10x more talented than the people mainstream. Morgan Wallen not only a dick but his music fucking sucks. I’m not a fan of country but I’m a fan of talent and even I can point into the direction of better country artists
Okay so I googled it bcos I’ve never heard of this mf before but as far as I can tell he’s basically the worst frat bro you’ve ever met and also a millionaire. Hard r, partying maskless during the height of covid, DUIs, public intoxication arrests, reckless endangerment charges, etc
Gosh, it makes me so sad when folks use ‘fake nice’ language and phrases to demean people. It makes genuine kindness more difficult to believe. Kind of like how, “bless your heart” got ruined. :( OP isn’t sad or upset about something petty - domestic violence is incredibly serious. He’s attacked women since Rihanna. But, still wish everyone here the best. <3
Awful taste in music? 2x Grammy winner but a bad musician? I think not, idk why people act like the moment they figurr out a celebrity did something bad that all their accomplishments are now shit like no you can separate the two. Good music but a bad human. You ain’t debating those grammys regardless though
If you won a grammy twice and made hundreds of millions off people buying your albums and years later somehow manage to still be successful, I think that says enough. Even if niether of you agree the proof is in the pudding, if your popular enough and people like you and want you they will look past your wrong doings, look at the US president for example 😂
Doing one bad thing doesn’t make you a villian and if you really believe it does then nobody should be celebrated, no one has acted like an angel their entire life so shut up, whether you acted intentionally or not everyone has done wrong, doesn’t make things any better but to say accomplishments dont matter is stupid
Seriously! My friend’s husband is bipolar and he never went on racist tirades. He instead didn’t sleep for a week, drove his car until he ran out of gas, walked through the desert, and called from the hospital with IV fluids before he got meds and better treatment. All self-detrimental, nothing targeting others.
Imagine letting other people dictate what music you can listen to because not everyone thinks its socially acceptable 😂, I could genuinely care less, Ill die in my 60’s or 80’s, im not gonna let some random person being upset stop me from jamming out lol. I guess everyone has this big motive to change the world and make a difference, I could just care less, I’m gonna live for myself and what I want to enjoy, cry about it.
Yes because Chris Browns music caused plauges and genocides…, of happy and energetic people dancing with others and sharing their love of his music 😂. You gotta give up, maybe you would have a point if he was like hitler but you still don’t. I won’t have millions around me but I’ll share the appreciation of that music with millions of others. Regardless of your opinion. Stay mad
Why are you guys acting stupid for, imagine working your butt off for years to become successful and eventually win grammys and some dumbo on yikyak says that doesn’t really reflect your career at all 😂. I think you guys just want to sound special for not listening to someones music. its not that deep.
That line about “let’s channel some of this energy into actually fighting racism and antisemitism” is a pretty canned line atp. That’s a false binary. People already can - and do - both withdraw support from harmful public figures and engage in more direct activism. We can walk and chew gum at the same time. Also, dismissing it as not “actually” doing anything is dismissing one of the oldest and most legit tools of American resistance.
Also…sometimes when people baselessly assume that others only try to help out of having petty or performative motives (“virtue signaling”), it’s projection of the fact that it’s the only reasons *they’d* do it. 👀 Maybe you’re the one signaling. You appeal to “real” anti-bigotry action…but conveniently don’t define what that looks like. Without that, it looks like you’re the one engaging in vague, meaningless moral posturing - not us.
Does this hold up for other professions or just artists? If you found out the architect of your house did domestic abuse would you move? You live in the US, right? Do you realize the things the people who made this country did? Do you think anyone who lives in that house or this country is inherently unempathetic too?
Okay but who cares if you never liked someone’s music in the first place and then found out they’re a shitty person? So? I guarantee you there are also people who create a beautiful art that you love who have done monstrous, horrific throngs that you won’t ever hear about. Does that make there anything wrong with you? I don’t think it does, do you?
Consuming art created by problematic people… IS problematic, regardless if they’re gaining revenue from it or not. It shows YOUR PERSONAL disregard for THEIR harmful behaviors. You can’t argue that. It’s not even like you’re consuming their content for educational purposes. It’s strictly for pleasure. Their negative behaviors are not a dealbreaker to you… and that’s okay in YOUR mind. So enjoy that all album all you want. It doesn’t change what that person did and the people it harmed.
It’s not disregarding their behavior though? Their negative behavior totally is a dealbreaker for me, I don’t think they should be accepted in polite society, it also doesn’t make berthing they’ve ever done retroactively become evil.. Like, how far does this go, would you move if you found out your house was built by a domestic abuser? Planned Parenthood was started be a eugenicist, it’s not about that now, do you think a woman is a horrible person if she gets breast cancer screening there?
What the fuck kind of specific ass analogies…??? First of all, if I had the means to, I would quit that job. And if I found my “dream home” but found out the sellers had abused their pets… then it’s not my dream home… because my “dream home” would include buying it from someone normal???
First of all, she was the founder of the American birth control league… not “planned parenthood.” They were the PRE-CURSOR to planned parenthood, and obviously the current organization does not support those views. And you’re talking about an instance that is very specific and very unlikely to happen. How many people know the contracting team that built their home… especially if they’re not the original residents….? Not many.
