it weirds me out when women post about their negative experiences with pregnancy/birth and people immediately go “but it’s not always like this! don’t let this discourage you from having a baby!”if seeing the reality of what it’s like is enough to make

It's so fucking annoying how when you don't want to put your body and mind through that and make a decision that will affect and change your life in a way that you don't want permanently, people suddenly think it's THEIR BUSINESS. Like why tf is some red pilled teenage boy telling me I'll be sad and alone for not having kids. 😂 I'm not a birthing tool I'm a human with other desires.

Literally just had this convo with my grandma. Was telling her about the lady on Instagram who has the list of pregnancy complications/risks/things women have gone through, and my grandma was like “oh that’s awful why would you put all those things in one place? I bet they’re all such rare things” and I was like “but they still happen, and informing people about it is never ever a bad thing”

YES EXACTLY THIS. that’s what my real issue is with this line of thinking. like why SHOULDNT women be informed of the risks, even if there rare? why is it a bad thing that we know what to expect? and why, if you know sharing that info with someone might make them choose different, would you NOT SHARE IT??? i feel like people are so afraid of women knowing the truth behind pregnancy being a life threatening medical condition and not a ‘miracle’ that informed decision making goes out the window :/

And my grandparents are lovely people, they truly are. But they’re from a different generation, they had their kids in the 70s. My grandpa chimed in and was like “women have been having babies forever, people have multiple babies, if they thought about all the risks they wouldn’t do that!” And I wanted to scream but I didn’t lol

ykw i actually have been thinking about that, especially when people use that reason to justify having kids now. bc yeah women HAVE been having children even when the world was objectively worse. but were they given the option to say no? did they have the choice to NOT be pregnant? were they even informed on how pregnancy occurs? with every other major medical event BUT pregnancy/birth people understand how important it is to be informed about what happens to your body 😭😭
