I enjoy the jokes about birthing your cat as much as the next person, but centering yourself as a “dog mom” on Mother’s Day does feel odd… raising a pet is not on the same level as raising another human to become an adult

Actually @fiddy_flowercat has a really good post about this from today. You’re still entitled to your opinion (and I HATEEE anthropomorphism probably MORE than the next person) but it’s valid in some context

I checked what you referenced and I still don’t agree. Caretaking is not the same as motherhood. Yes, caretaking is a selfless act that people do deserve to be celebrated for, but the commitment to a cat or dog is not comparable to the scale at which mothers are responsible for children
