Update: He’s saying now he doesn’t want to have sex before marriage and that he’s been praying to god everyday. This man has to be on drugs.
Update, actual final update: he’s now going to study more into sexualities and learn. I’m gonna go much into detail but let’s say his religious parents have been telling him to read the bible. He’s going to counselor that doesn’t involve a church. 1/2

Not on drugs, just deeply religious and influence by other people- it looks like you two aren’t matching up well at all in terms of future plans or religious values, so Id just break up- if his parents and religion have such a big impact on how he feels about his partner, you don’t want to be there anyways, unless you feel the exact same

Too bad. If it causes this much distress and closed-mindedness, it is.

Coming to terms that things won’t work with your first love is very hard. Give her time

He’s def a dick for the things he’s said but I don’t think the “no sex before marriage” thing is malevolent, just unusual. In my experience when people suddenly develop an interest in religion, they’re going through something personally and looking for meaning. I think Religion has a way of appealing to humans’ anxieties.

The problem is initiating a SEXUAL relation with someone and expecting that person to just be ok with it when your partner decides out of the blue they want to wait. Yes obviously consent is important but it’s 100% ok to tale someone’s sexual prefs into account when deciding whether to continue a relationship

I’m not saying she’s wrong for ending the relationship for that it makes COMPLETE sense I just don’t understand why people are hating on him for not wanting sex before marriage and stuff

Because it’s a sudden unprovoked change. I think that’s what’s hurting her the most. Not wanting sex is chill. Building a SEXUAL relationship with someone and then having them pull the opportunity sucks ngl.

I’m pretty sure they’ve already had sex tho is the thing. It sounds like he wasn’t religious at all until last week. So that’s not the relationship she signed up for
