I think of it more like…wisdom doesn’t inherently come with age. It does if the individual is open to it. Some people grow old and stubbornly stick to their ways, refusing to pay attention to the way the world is changing around them. You gain wisdom from experience, but only if you’re willing to reflect on that experience with an open mind.
I suppose everyone finds their own path. You are right, that some people just consistently stay set in what they were taught as children. But I personally from a country that’s pretty liberal, and I myself used to be extremely liberal. But forming my own opinions instead of job trend hoping has made me conservative
On top of the south having poorly educated / poorly funded education + a poorer population… it’s also largely white and Christian which tends to vote republican or is normally right leaning. Of course that doesn’t show up in the bigger cities bc those typically have younger people, younger people aren’t as Christian/stuck in their ways, more funding for education, etc which shapes a more left leaning population.
are you actually from the south?? I’m not but I am from rural appalachia, which is a pretty similar situation. When #3 said poor they meant poor. Just because things are cheaper that doesn’t mean people are actually making a proportionate amount of money to pay for everything they need. Lack of education is one big reason, so people can’t go for the higher paying jobs, and people in the south and rural areas have historically been taken advantage of. They get underpaid and overworked.
