the modesty talk honest to god gives me the heebie jeebies with the way i’ve seen ADULT MEN call literal children immodest for showing their hair or legs (if they’re wearing shorts or a swimsuit)… EUGH it just reeks of pedophilic rape culture to me ☹️

jael killed an enemy general when he slept in her tent for the night. judith beheaded the general of the army that was surrounding her city. the point of these stories is to not underestimate women and then people in my religion go and underestimate us anyway.

and i’m happy for you! if religion isn’t your thing, i respect that! i don’t go to mass anymore. yeah, sure, some people will call me not a real catholic, but my belief that that my faith is between me and God.

and that sucks. i think the bible should be taken for it’s morals, like “love others” and not literally. growing up, the stories of the badass women were literally all i had (all the tv shows i was allowed to watch didn’t have main character women) as so i think about them a lot.

I follow Hinduism and I could give you scientific reasons for almost any problem you could point out in the religion. A lot of it has been sneaked in by priests that had propaganda or evil intentions.

I mean Indian culture is supportive of the patriarchal imposition on women. Hinduism is not. I won’t argue because of what I’ve learned in my religion. I’m not aware of the intricacies of Christianity and am not commenting on it. Or any other religion for that matter. If this is pissing you off, that isn’t my intention. But, I’m just trying to put my truth out there.

Also, some Indian culture, not all. We have a lot of notable people who have worked for women and supported their progress in society. Some def hold back women into boxes to serve men at their pleasure.
