girls- when you get catcalled in public, or anything similar- why don’t you just scream at them? i’m talking like full on yelling lol (coming from a girl who stays inside at all costs…i was thinking ab it and now im curious)
unfortunately w the type of ppl who do this it seems they dont often care what kind of reaction they get as long as they get one theyre gonna be happy, so our best weapon sometimes is just pretending we didnt hear them/ignoring them (sadly)

so like if you’re on public transport and some random dude starts being weird…you won’t just start yelling at him?

it’s better to ignore, i don’t want to engage for the reasons stated above- i don’t want to draw more attention, potential provoke them into attacking me, or encouraging. which yes my silence could be taken as “encouraging” it. there’s no winning, they want a reaction

No because what happens if he runs up on me or escalates it in any way. There’s no guarantee anyone else on the bus/train/whatever is going to step in and help me if I get attacked. Bystander syndrome is real and SCARY

interesting. i live in a small college town and ive yelled at one dude at a the bar before but ive never thought about it like this. i guess i truly never thought about what my reaction could cause. it’s a sad world we live in…

yeah being mean/yelling can work sometimes but it’s usually not worth the risk tbh
