If you’re vegan just say that, but there’s nothing inherently wrong with fishing. Fishing and hunting within proper seasons are part of population control and are good for the environment. Some invasive species actually need to be fished to save environments.

Fishing for sport is something I’m against as fish feel every small vibration in the water, it’s guaranteed they feel the pain and trauma of it. Fishing for food as long as it’s done sustainably and respectfully is fine though. Fish is apart of many different cultures

you don’t have to stab a fish to fish for it. what he’s doing is absolutely wrong, but in regular fishing, you can easily fish and release them alive.

He literally stabs a fish in the mouth with a sharp hook then rips it out and throws the fish into the water FOR FUN

Oh yeah well that is different. But you needed to state that. Just saying “fishing” is why you’re getting downvoted

Ok, but you still didn’t differentiate between fishing for sport and fishing with the intention to eat and/or sell the fish. Some people who fish for consumption also enjoy it as a hobby.

Why are you defending men? He wanted to hurt fish for fun just to throw them back into water.

I’m not defending him. I agree that catch and release is bad, but I’m saying you didn’t differentiate between that and fishing for consumption, which made it seem like you were deeming all fishing as bad, and that’s why you’re getting downvoted. I’m just saying that in the future you need to differentiate because there is a difference.

There’s even a bunch of regulations here in the US about what fish you can keep and what you have to throw back, mostly pertaining to their size and whether or not the fish is carrying eggs.

I think she is just talking about using a normal hook when she says he’s “stabbing” the fish

Fish don’t feel pain like humans do, their nervous systems aren’t that complex

We get it, you’re vegan. But that’s not an option everyone has and fishing isn’t torture, it’s a heavily regulated practice.

If you’re vegan that’s fine, but you can’t ignore that ethical and sustainable fishing is scientifically proven to be good for the environment. I personally don’t like hunting and I will never date someone who hunts, but I understand the role that hunting plays in an ecosystem and that it’s necessary. You can understand science and have your personal beliefs and lifestyle choices believe it or not.

Exactly I’m not big on hunting/fishing outside of food but I understand it’s place in population control as well as how it can remove invasive species from the ecosystem. It’s all about balance.
