Eh some things are within reason and as long as each party has equal restrictions then that’s fine. But obviously some people like to abuse power over partners in relationships and that’s not good

People were concerned when I messaged my partners asking if they were okay with me going to pride and I had to be like “no im okay, they’re going to say yes but this would my first pride event and I’m asking they’re cool with me going without them since it won’t be my first time if I go with them for their first time”

Ugh I’m so grateful for my bf. I don’t have to ask him things cause I’ll know he’ll say “🤨 yeah you can go, I trust you”. I asked him if he’s ok with me still being friends with a guy I went on dates with b4 we were dating and he said yeah, there’s a reason why we didn’t work out, and he trusts me. The only thing he said he’s not cool w is a guy buying me a drink, but then he has a problem w the guy esp if I tell him I have a bf

a relationship is about boundaries and compromises between partners. as long as he is also compromising with his behavior based on her comfort level and there is equality, there is no issue with this…

buddy you're projecting some sort of past experience or strawman onto this post. ....also if a grown adult feels the need to control what another grown adult wears, they need therapy or they arent a good match.

Not really a past expirence my gf respects my opinion( as do I towards her) to not wear such revealing things. I don’t want to control what anybody wears however I want somebody who respects themselves enough to choose not to wear something like that.

That’s true, but purposefully wearing “revealing” clothes while you have a parter is disrespectful period. Ngl I didn’t even know this was girl talk I got a random notification. First time here kinda excited

ill wear what i want because im an adult and not a damn baby. not everyone shares your same morals or views of the world. extremely close minded of you. i used to cover up bc i was insecure and hated my body. now i love it! i dont feel the need to hide it because im not ashamed anymore.

And if that’s your prerogative that’s great but telling people in relationships that they shouldn’t listen to their men is crazy no? Even in the foundation of relationships trust and listening is essential

listening to your partners feelings ≠ letting your wardrobe be controlled by another adult. hope this helps

upvote 25 downvote

Listening to your partner feelings is understand that your wardrobe could potentially be disrespectful to the relationship as a whole.

if they view my wardrobe as disrespectful then they don't trust me and we probably arent a good match.

Anonymous replying to -> #8 9w

Yeah nobody is doing that. Contrary to your beliefs women don’t get dressed solely to get male attention. If you met her like that why do you expect her to stop? That’s like saying men only go to the gym to get women and when they get one they should stop. Or you meet someone raving and want them to stop after you get together. Not everything a woman does is for a man.

??? i've been in a relationship for 5 years. you shouldn't do something simply because your partner wants you to do it, you should also want to do it too like help them around the house or spend time with them. i dont know if my partner did something just because i asked them that doesn't feel very genuine. same thing with not doing something, you shouldn't not cheat because your partner doesn't want you to you should just want to be loyal.

that's not what i meant lol obviously if you're in a committed relationship you shouldn't go somewhere that's inherently sexual. you should want to not even put your partner in that situation to feel some type of way, it shouldn't be because they asked you not to do something yk. but also there has to be a level of independence, you should be able to go to the club with your friends without your partner having a problem with it, and that's not saying you're going to go in a mini skirt with a

Literally tho, a lot people need some growing up to do. People have boundaries/rules/restrictions that they communicate with their partner. Every couple should have these type of things! If I tell my partner I don’t want them to go to a strip club/party. I expect they should give me the same amount of rules too. Like not going to the bars, going to a party, or club with the girls. Been together with my partner for 7 years and rarely have these rules became an issue for us. Simple to follow.

Yikes then why are you with him? Obviously you want to be single/or at least act like it. Then when trust issues start become a problem, you’re going to get defensive right? Actually Respect your partner, that’s not respect if you go do it anyways just dismissing how they feel. This goes for both parties.

it’s not that i don’t wanna be w him. i love and respect him or else i wouldn’t have agreed to be in a relationship. he’s allowed to tell me what he’s comfortable/uncomfortable w and vice versa. i’ll make a decision based on his opinion and on the situation, but he can’t just tell me what to do. we’re both adults. just cus i don’t want him to tell me what to do doesn’t mean i don’t wanna be in a relationship. i don’t tell him what to do so i expect the same…

Your reasoning could be because they said no and you had a respectful conversation about it where you agreed not to. Should never tell other people that “my partner said no”, if you meant that I agree.

upvote 1 downvote

Anonymous replying to -> #28 8w

i agree with that take somewhat, i think it's the whole language of your partner saying no instead of coming to you and voicing their worries about the situation. but i agree as a partnership you should have conversations and agree on a compromise/solution, and like you said your reasoning should never be "because my partner said no" because that means your going with what they said instead of actually agreeing i totally agree with that
