ik it’s hard to feel thankful for the state of the world we live in. but sometimes it’s nice to take a step back and realize that we are part of the first generations of girls in history that have this kind of independence and sexual freedom

like talking to elderly women and realizing they never had the chance to live alone in an apartment bc they had to get married. couldn’t go to college bc they had to have children. couldn’t live bc they had a man to serve. and this goes back for so many years.

no fr, talking to my grandmother and she wasn't allowed to pursue her desired major in college because she was a women is mind boggling to me and she was one of her only family members at the time to even go to college

sure some cultures aren’t as restrictive, and some are even more so, but globally we are some of the first girls to have the ability to make the choice to not get married or have kids. it’s crazy to think that it took this long, and we still have so much farther to go
