this is a hot take: i dont think overweight animals are funny. are they cute, sure. but tubby cats and dogs are not funny to me. it shows a lack of care for their health in pet ownership. it shortens their lifespan. get your pets in shape tf

And I hate when people get offended when I call their pet fat, like babe it’s concerning

this and also children. if your kid is morbidly obese under the age of like 12 without some freak preexisting genetic condition that disables them you’re a horrible parent

My dog was overweight and we didn’t take it seriously until she got IVDD and couldn’t walk for 6 weeks! She lost the weight and it hasn’t happened since. You are so correct

Yes it is just as bad as an emaciated animal

Only fat animal I’ll chuckle at is like a wild squirrel bc they earned that and it’s just goofy. Any pet tho has a terrible owner

yess i get so frustrated trying to explain to my mom why we need to feed my cat less food (she is obese) but she justifies it by saying “we wouldnt want someone to deny us food” 🫩 im so worried for her health

My poor cat got really fat bc her sister died infront of her (still not a clue how) but she was really depressed after even after we tried to help every way, she also has some medical thing cause we have had her on a diet of the minimum amount of food and she hasn’t lost any weight.

i agree with this but as a cat mom with 2 skinny 12 year old cats and one fat 4 year old cat who has food issues because he wasn’t weened (rescued off the street at 4 weeks old) it is VERY difficult to get a cat to lose weight especially when trying not to effect other cats health 😭

one of my biggest fears. im a vet student. and i hate seeing overweight dogs especially bc thats what it leads to if not joint issues, incontinence, or cancer. like i understand ur dog wants more food but its a dog…DUH. ur the human in the room, take care of them even if they have an attitude about it. dogs dont exceed their lifespan eating chicken nuggets lmao

i dont find it funny. i have a cat and a dog and both are at prime weight and body score. its not hard. but if u cant tell ur pet no when it comes to food then we have a whole other issue (training) at hand. its negligence. period.

They’re always like “NOO don’t say that he’s just big boned” he can’t walk because of all his weight

exactly. i just like.. it enrages me. as a vet student i also don’t subscribe to keeping pets alive when they’re quality of life declines. fifi is cute but its overweight and can barely walk, its incontinent, hasnt got vaccines or preventatives in years, cataracts, deaf, missing teeth…i understand but like…u gotta let them go. its the fair thing to do. dont make em suffer

like ive been in lab and seen what that does to animals. and its not excusable. bc its not hard. i cant afford dog food for the month? im adding supplements to ground turkey, peas and carrots, and rice. like my dog had babies before i adopted ..ive had her for a year. shes so trim and muscular ppl assume shes a boy. its not hard to give them what they need. so i get angry when its not being done

but nb will understand until they have to cut a dog open to fix blockages in their organs or cut out tumors. its very serious.
