Update: He just has an infection, the doctors aren’t sure what is causing it though. He got two shots today and is starting some new medicine and prescription food (going from dry to wet). He’s just a little sleepy, but he is acting so much better.

I’m really sorry. I hope you know that this is an extremely aggressive type of cancer for cats and you ultimately did what was best for him. You tried what you could. He knew the effort you put into making sure he was okay. Be gentle with yourself, you made the most selfless choice you could have to give him a dignified goodbye.

I know, it happened so quickly and there was no way for us to catch in time. His entire jaw was basically a tumor. He couldn’t eat, he would hide and he wasn’t himself. I miss him so much already. He was such a sweet cat

It’s a ferocious one. Most people have no idea until they do a dental and find it early (which still has bad prognosis) or an abscess erupts. It’s not your fault. You did good by him. I’m sorry you had to see him in pain at the end, but I’m sure he was very comforted by your goodbyes.

This happened to my cat. This form of jaw cancer is the lead cause of death in cats. Usually by the time you find it the baby only has a month or so left. They go from being completely healthy to terminal in a phone call. I am so sorry you had to go through this too. For me, the hardest part was that she was fine the month prior. It was the shell shock. I know you’ve heard it but it does get better, my baby passed right before thanksgiving, but I still cry for her probably every other week

What sucks is right before his cancer he was having kidney issues and had multiple UTIs. I just wish he was healthy and felt good before the cancer

I completely get it, my cat has a slight uti right before, so when she started drooling they thought it was from the meds for it and we stopped them to see if it would improve
