can anybody explain to me how feet suddenly became sexualized? i grew up walking around barefoot around my house all the time and then as soon as i got to college people acted like it was crazy not to wear socks in my dorm. still don’t get it tbh?

idk if i’m reading them right but it might be more of a hygiene thing? dorm floors are kinda dirty and once i moved in i started wearing light dorm slippers

Foot fetishes have been a thing for a very long time, aside from that college dorms are known to be dirty so I think it’s reasonable for people to be grossed out by the thought of their bare skin touching the floor

Yeah like whenever there’s a video or pic where someone’s barefoot and it’s all “for free?” or creators talking about having to blur or crop their feet and I’ve felt the need to crop out my feet..

I read this wrong but I want to comment it anyway- On why foot fetishes existPlace in brain for processing feeling in feet (somatosensory cortex) is close to place in brain for processing fun time genital feelings (nucleus accumbens). Sometimes the wires end up crossing over and thus foot fetish.

like someone else said, foot fetishes have existed since forever and are statistically very common. recently though, it’s become a trend / meme to sexualize them as a joke that many people are doing because they find it funny. about the last part, that may just be a cultural difference

like everything i heard about it was always from people “joking” about it sexually. like can you keep your foot fetish away from me??? my dorm was pretty new, carpeted, and kept really clean by me and my roommate. i walk around barefoot at my house when im home. i just don’t see the big deal. i feel like everyone started jokingly sexualizing feet back a few years ago but then just never stopped? quentin tarantino ass society

idk in my house (we live in the south to be fair) it was always considered dirtier to keep your shoes on and walk around the clean house. we always took off our shoes before walking inside bc we vacuum and mop pretty regularly

yeah it’s just weird…like why do we as women always end up getting subjected to whatever weirdo fetishes are out there. can people not just get a grip???

That’s so weird?? Def flip it back on them and see how quick they shut up. “Why are you thinking about a normal part of my body sexually?” And just pause and wait for their response

yeah i know it’s more of a cultural thing also like most east asian countries have people take their shoes off super often and same with my latin american friends. i just can’t be comfortable tracking dirt all over my house from outside
