i don’t get episodes very often now but when i did a lot, grounding exercises were really helpful. the name 10 things one is pretty basic and a little cliche but it works. naming things and their color also works. i used a lot of temperature stuff, holding something cold to the back of your neck or your forehead, you can take washcloths and tie them in a knot then stick them in the freezer and when you feel one coming on grab it out of the freezer and try to untie it while it’s frozen

I’m like desperate rn bc my diagnosis is new and I’m still learning to cope and my triggers are so random lol. The only thing not frozen is my fingers and eyes and I have no idea what to do 🫠

Finally out of it! And I’m so sorry ml. I’m not sure the best advice to give you. Have you tried to immerse yourself with music and close your eyes so you’re not sure when you’re riding by?

i did that one a lot when i was psych inpatient, it gives you something to focus on and has the double effect of the cold kinda freezing your fingers and distracting you and giving you endorphins. for a therapy i recommend looking for therapists who will do DBT or even a DBT therapy group (extra points if you find one that’s specifically for SA survivors because community can be helpful).

CBT is just not very effective and not helpful when the thing you’re dealing with isn’t a behavioral issue to be changed. and DBT will help a lot with your mindset and being able to accept things for what they are and move on without feeling like that invalidates your pain. big fan of DBT, helped me a whole lot when i was younger
