Does it make sense to equate not shaving with having no self care though? I get the post, but at the same time I don’t get the need to make something sound more feminist than it really is. Sorry for being a party pooper 🤷‍♀️

i don’t even like guys, but also there is such thing as an exaggeration, and there’s also other reasons why i shave. this was just the funniest most relatable version that i chose to post. not sure who shit in your cereal, but if you don’t like to shave and don’t like self care and the feeling of being smooth, that’s all you. but a good chunk of ppl would disagree 🤷‍♀️

Mmmm, I wouldn’t say funny, it seemed like you were trying to be relatable. I’m not mad at you sweetheart, I’m just asking you consider why you juxtaposed shaving with girl approval. Again, we’re all in this together, imma hold your hand through this walk 🤝

well i did say it was the most relatable version to post, im glad you can read. I also don’t like guys to begin with, so ofc nothing i do is for them. And the pros of shaving are what make it worth it. i also have a skin condition that causes me to have an excessive amount of keratin, so shaving, exfoliating, lotion and oil help get rid of the physical effects of the condition. i enjoy when something i do gets a positive reaction out of others, even if it has nothing to do with them.

Yeah that makes sense. It’s just that shaving most certainly is a societal pressure and to be the boring/apparently illiterate party pooper I am, these types of jokes seem like a way to make shaving something it’s not. Like the same kinda thing with the makeup posts. Like we ALL know the real reason we participate in this stuff

“the real reason” well actually I hate the feel of hair on my body in general so no there’s no real male centred reason.

actually if you know why shaving started you’d know it’s bc of capitalism, not the patriarchy. and gillette only had women start shaving bc they were running out of buyers since all the men were shaving for work or war efforts.

Girl come on 😒 how do you think they were able to profit in that capitalistic context? Obviously by adding another beauty standard/insecurity. Your friend in the 50s starts shaving. Ur mom and sister start shaving. Ur gonna feel pressure to shave. Why would women start buying their product if Gillette didn’t sell the “solution” to the problem they made up?

considering the fact I don’t even like men why would I do something in favor of them?

Well you can’t just think about it in terms of who you’re attracted to. It’s a societal pressure to shave to meet a beauty standard. Meaning you mainly do it for everyone, including yourself, your friends, women AND men. You’re conforming to a particular set of rules reinforced by everyone, not just to attract a mate. Plus even if you were only doing it for women, that’s wouldn’t be much better
