I get so irked when people say “I have this __” and then aren’t diagnosed. It’s absolutely okay to feel that you may have something but can we keep it to the “I think I have this __” or when referring to the symptoms maybe “my __-like tendencies”

Like not to bandwagon on the adhd train but do I think I might have it? Yes, I’ve had teachers & friends tell me forever. And OCD? I’ve thought this since I was young & even my father who thinks the cure to depression is walking outside has referred to me as having it. But I don’t go around saying I have ocd and adhd, if I’m telling someone why they really can’t touch something in my room I’ll tell them I’m a germaphobe or if I have trouble focusing I’ll just say I have trouble focusing.

That’s a fair assessment though, you didn’t go around claiming to absolutely have it which is really what I think bothers me. Using terms like “pretty sure” helps you connect with others & get a better understanding of if you may have it.
