I’m really tired of people in relationships telling single people to just love themselves. Self love is important but you can’t self love your way out of the normal human desire for connection. And these are the same ppl who are never alone 🫤

Yeah I think a lot of couples forget what it’s like to be single that they forget how these platitudes come across. It stems from a good place but often times it feels worse to here then actually just listening and giving us the space to vent

Couples are never told to improve while in their relationship for the betterment of themselves and the relationship. It’s almost exclusively told to single people bc society has conditioned us to think a lack of partnership is a moral failing. A relationship is seen as the prize for working on yourself so when you get in one you don’t have to put in that effort anymore bc you got what you want. Thats the narrative I hear all the time

i personally have always tried to improve for the betterment of myself while in a relationship. i’m sorry that’s the narrative you hear but i agree on that’s not how it should be. i’m big on the fact that people should always work to improve themselves in a relationship or not

That’s good and I’m glad you agree! I think self improvement and cultivating hobbies, skills, and a good community is so important regardless of your relationship status.

i 100% agree, having a life outside of a relationship and trying to grow everyday is super important! it helps with your mental health and also builds a healthier relationship.
