ok I love the idea of trading and stuff but also this kind of thing annoys me because I buy my supplies with money and want to sell my art for money because I have to pay my rent with money. it kind of devalues some crafts too imo

I don’t really think so either but also this lady is really big on doing free stuff to help artists that doesn’t effectively help artists because they don’t end up with paying customers. It’s just a common thread I see in a lot of people who want to build a little woke creative community but forget that we do have to pay money to live

I don’t intend on it. More of just a comment on these kinds of events (including “anticapitalist” markets where things are being sold for money) being good in theory but leading to artists having to devalue their work/use worse materials/lose money

yeah I didn’t expect you guys to have the full context. I just thought maybe somebody who had similar experiences would see it. This lady in particular does annoy me beyond belief LOL but there’s other similar concepts around like paying $50+ to be there but calling it anti capitalist anti establishment whatever
