hot take! if a man won't let u paint his nails/ do silly makeup on him/ reacts with disgust at being associated with femininity, that's a red flag & u should leave❗️❗️ chances are, at BEST he's uptight & no fun, or at WORST sexist & not a feminist

I knew my ex bf had secret desires to transition. I would ask and try to do his nails or makeup on him for “my fun”, but I really was trying to do it for him💔

This is a hot take?? Oh lord the standards have fallen since I got my man (they’ve always been this bad I was lucky)

My bf always says “that’s just not really my style” to feminine stylings instead of reacting with disgust bc he’s a really masc country type of guy. Then again I also don’t like makeup, nail polish, traditionally feminine clothing, or even shaving and he loves it :) I love him so much.

Idk I don’t let anyone paint my nails or put make up on as well bc I have sensitive skin and I don’t want to damage my nails with polish. But ig the reason and reaction it’s important

If he has a valid reason for it (my bf hated stuff touching his face. Big time sensory issues) that’s fine, but if you’re goofing around with it and he’s an angry no, dig into that

if they don’t like one of these things but say “oh but it’d be fun if we did [other feminine thing]” then that’s comfort with his gender/being associated with femininity AND expressing boundaries in a healthy way ‼️ double green flag

My bf is really fun but I don't paint my nails so I think he would be confused if I asked to paint his. As far as makeup goes, that shit is expensive. I wouldn't waste it on him for shits and giggles.

It’s not. Unless they have genuine concerns it could be a sign that the guy is lowkey homophobic. Like if you have an allergy to the ingredients or something bc 1, nail polish and makeup come off. 2, you don’t have to wear it in public it’s a fun thing to do. If women are willing to learn your little video games you can let them put nail polish on your nails

My guy friends have all let me play with makeup and skin care on their faces. Bc they know they can grab one of my wipes and wipe it off. No love interest has ever let me do it

tell me you have a fragile sense of masculinity without telling me you have a fragile sense of masculinity

That’s totally fair. I don’t think this was a “go test your bf” kind of thing, but an overall warning. I personally apply this to when guys make fun of girl for wearing make up or doing their nails and hair too.

I agree with this, like my dad has held my purses and bags with no problem as well as let me paint his nails without a care in the world. He always said he knew his masculinity and didn’t have to prove it to anyone. (and he’d actually show off the nails to our family members and show them how I did when I was little😭)
