Unfortunately many HR writers/reader just go “women want rights AND husband” and that’s enough for #feminism. Like there’s a lot work distancing setting/era’s romance from the very real issues (women’s rights, racism, colonialism, slavery, etc.)
Bridgerton writers (and Historical Romance writers in general) you can create all the bodice rippers you want, but never bring up feminist writers from the time like Mary Wollstonecraft ever again, especially when disparaging her work/ideas.
