yeah but also the person in that comments trying to say actually pretty girls experience misogyny worse is so yikes. catcalling and other forms of harassment and assault aren’t about attractiveness that’s so misogynistic

Btw women who fit the conventional beauty standard are absolutely still oppressed by our misogynistic society because they’re automatically deemed stupid and unserious. A beautiful woman could never have the capacity to be a scholar, leader, etc. according to the patriarchy

I almost see what they were going for, but definitely not the best execution there. It pushes the blame of assault onto women like the “but what were you wearing” argument

THANK YOU being catcalled has nothing to do with being attractive/fitting a beauty standard. i was catcalled the most when i was a child and as soon as i grew up it almost completely stopped. it’s all about power, not attraction

yeah and borders on “it’s a compliment!!” territory. absolutely pretty privilege doesn’t save you from harassment but suggesting that men are violent towards women because they’re pretty is insane behavior

Yeah the whole thing about being catcalled less as an adult was probably one of the most horrific and sobering realizations I’ve ever had. I used to complain to my guy friends that men just don’t hit on me anymore like they used to freshman year of college when I felt uglier, was breaking out more, etc. and one of them asked “why do you think that is?”
