Getting gifts that aren’t thoughtful or aren’t a reflection of the person knowing you well is kinda disheartening ngl. That’s why I just buy what I want throughout the year and tell everyone not to worry about getting me gifts

My grandma got me cat earrings- which are cute, but they’re gold. I never wear gold except one necklace I used to wear bc it was extremely sentimental. When I was like “these are gold :/“ she said “get over it!”

I got a silver necklace as a girl who prefers gold 💔🥀 I know silver objectively suits me better but I prefer gold. And my mom was like “why don’t you just wear it one time?” I should’ve never told her it wasn’t really my style ( EVEN THOUGH SHE ASKED). But anyways I’m going to see if I can get a refund or at least store credit in a few days since she left the tags on. (This is why I hate surprises bc my preferences are never considered, it’s always what they think would look good on me)

When ppl give me gifts that aren’t my taste I just say thanks for thinking off me and just donate it, get rid of it. I no longer make myself feel bad for not using gifts bc you free to do whatever you want with it now that it’s yours
