they are a lil difficult to train & they are very vocal dogs - but if you’re willing to put effort in / are okay with the fact they will be vocal. i think any dog is worth it if you want it & are willing to put time/effort into them. every dog is prone to health issues so just be aware of signs of back problems with their long ass spines

Dachshunds also have a tendency to pee when they get excited, which is a lot. And it’s not really something they grow out of, just to keep that in mind. But they are very sweet loving dogs. But if they had the choice, they would be inside your skin. 😂

I don’t have one but I work at the animal hospital and they i see them often, hip issues and stuff so it gets expensive compared to mixed breeds which wouldn’t be prone to health issues that a purebreds have.

be super patient & also consider puppy training classes because they train you & the dog to work together on things. i can give a more in depth explanation after my late lunch thing

idk if you’re getting a puppy or an adult but basically just working on crate training & desensitization/exposure such as; walks, walk around the outside of a fenced dog park - not inside, busy areas, take into dog friendly stores that aren’t pet stores like home depot - double check if they’re dog friendly in your area though. i also know some locations of scheels are dog friendly! also do multiple shorter training sessions throughout the day rather than one long one because most dogs lose-

interest quick or become stubborn. i’d use high reward treats that help them stay focused
