Ooh thats interesting, how so? Im pretty into my local punk scene and was raised by punks and to me it seems very much alive or at least as dead as theyve been saying for forever lol. But also im not really on social media

I have friends from all over the political spectrum. Maybe it’s just me but as far as i know, alt/punk is ‘going against the grain’ and having the unpopular public opinion/mindset…ive seen people argue verbatim about which opinions are punk and which are not because they’re sort of all supported by big corporations now, which i see as sort of a ‘popular opinion’ now yk? Honestly not being on social media much is probably the most punk of all. LOL

Okayy yeah makes sense. Punk as an attitude has been dead since it was named, its a weird phenomenon where you cant self identify as it or else youre a poser its like schrodingers punk

I mean more like the political side of punk/alt. Like the community debates this so much on what is and isn’t an ‘alt’ opinion. It’s more the hardcore ppl like classical alt ppl yk?

I think you are really just not exposed to it enough. The circles I’m in are very much still political

i just feel like it’s so isolating these days yk? like absolutely they can be political but there’s now different schools of political alt people because social media has divided us so deeply that everyone thinks they’re going against the grain no matter what their opinion set is

I feel like that has always been the case though. There are always going to be cliques and out groups in social movements. The fighting is just more outwardly visible because it is happening online

There was a time where punks and metal heads outright hated each other
