Being a woman is hard but being a Black woman is exhausting. And if you are dark skinned it’s 20x harder. I hate how our struggles are dismissed or taken as being too difficult.

You get thrown to the wolves before you are even grown because now you’re seen as competition by the older black women. The parenting turns into survival training while their sons get coddled forever. Nobody teaches you how to date or how to be loved or how to protect your heart. You are just told “don’t get pregnant.” I hate it here sometimes.

i’m a POC, and 100% agree with you. black women are expected to fix everything (re: 2024 presidential election), yet no one protects y’all. have people even seen the statistics of black women giving birth?! they are 3-4x more likely to die from complications during childbirth and it’s usually linked to healthcare workers being racially biased towards black women. it’s gotta be taxing to know that every system is built against you.

I’m white but I go to a university that is predominantly POC students, I grew up in a more democratic area because of this also (I like to think). But no you are extremely valid, just recently I had a friend of mine tell me that our professor (40yr old white man) said “I’m intimidated friend #2,” friend 1 is mixed and friend 2 is black, literally an immigrant also. And we came to the conclusion he’s intimidated by black women period because what fuckin kind of comment is that to make about a 20

I know a good majority won’t relate but I’m using GT as an outlet right now 🫩 I’ll probably regret it later and decide to delete this.

Year old college girl, like idk. My ex (first gen mixed man) took a class regarding the struggles of black women and even as someone who likes to think I understand a lot of the goings on some of the things he would come home & tell me about was just like damn. My privilege is showing bc it’d be things I hadn’t even thought about. I’m sorry you’re going through this, and I’ve truly seen the black women struggle vs black men coddled struggle in my friends. Life is super hard esp in the US
