it’s basically like misleading marketing, because like a lot of people might not know they’re omnivores so they think it’s gonna be a super healthy chicken. if it was free range / pasture raised theyre basically saying the chicken did not eat any other animal by products - they probably still foraged for insects/lizards but thats usually labeled differently basically they put it on there to say “we didn’t fill this chicken with by product food or

I would say maybe incase they feed them to each other, or meat like pork or something. But as someone who had chickens they do that naturally, they will eat their young or anything smaller than them

That’s what I’ve heard like I’ve seen farmers feed their chickens scrambled eggs or just any already fertilized eggs that the farmers don’t want turning into chickens so I feel like it’s a weird thing to market lol but I get what you’re saying

Oh that’s actually not too bad for them to do really. It’s not gunna hurt them per se. It’s better than letting the eggs rot and will do better w waste management and less stinky eggs. Those farmers probably have a TON of eggs than they need in their homes too

There was one woman on Instagram that I saw this past baby chick season who had rented a rooster to breed her chickens and by the end of the season she was just chucking eggs at the wall lol she had probably like 30-40 chickens and they would not stop laying eggs
