Hahaha that’s 𝙚𝙭𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙡𝙮 why I left the RWBY fandom, I mean specifically that. Kept getting accused of being homophobic because I didn’t like one of the biggest ships in the show, since I felt they worked way better as super close friends and there vas very little in the show itself at that point to suggest any romantic feelings between the two. Especially after Volumes 4/5 showed a much more interesting potential relationship dynamic for one of them.

I’m going to guess you’re talking about BlackSun. For what it’s worth you were absolutely right. The banter between the two was so fun in 4/5, not to mention Sun was such a huge part of her story at the end of Volume 1. And they did the prom together, and they flirted at the festival in volume 3. Not to mention Sun was willing to follow Blake in Volume 4 because he knew her well enough to know she’d need a friend even when she said she didn’t.

Also would throw in him getting shot for her in Volume 5, but yang did sacrifice an arm so I’d call that a draw. Although based on the dialogue after and the fact that he did leave her alive, I’m not convinced it was Adam’s plan to kill Blake at beacon anyway.

I didn’t like how he continuously pressured her and then forcibly kissed her. It was very uncomfortable and we never got to explore Katara’s side of it all very deeply. I love that they had Bumi, Kya, and Tenzin in LoK, but it just felt so pressured and a lot more one-sided in AtLA.

Zutara never clicked for me because they felt a lot better as friends and I think that part was done well with what we had shown.

He also played a massive role in getting her to embrace her Faunus identity, in the end of Volume 1 sure, but I mean the underlying plot for her episodes in volume 4 and 5. And in return she helped him learn more about his own Faunus heritage which was really sweet. It says a lot that when her secret came out in Volume 1, she trusted him above anyone else to support her when she needed it. Was he a goofball? Yeah absolutely. But he was serious when he needed to be.

I’ve also definitely got something of a bias for BlackSun since that was a couples costume I did with my boyfriend one year for a Halloween party. I’ll never forget the sheer amount of gel it took to keep his hair like that 😂 (he’s got long hair normally) So a great little bit of nostalgia there for me as well.
