Y’know what’s really fucking cool? That we’re able to see exoplanets like this. 1781, first planet discovered by telescope (Uranus). Not even 100 years ago, we couldn’t get anything into space. Now we’re photographing exoplanets. I love science.
130 light years away… Here’s the same system, HR 8799, in 2025. We can detect carbon dioxide and that they’re similar to our four gas giants!

The Voyager probes, launched in the late 70s, would take about 18,000 years to travel 1 light year… 2,340,000 years to get there, if that’s how that worked out. 😵💫
