I prefer “courteous”. Because people sometimes try to take advantage of people who are too kind too often. I can stop being courteous at any moment if someone’s starting to try to take advantage of a situation. They should take the hint, but sometimes they are drunk, or just kind of stupid, and I have to say it out loud. “I’m not being polite anymore.” 😐
