Well it’s one thing to dislike religion (which is ok) and another to belittle the person for having that religion which would then be a personal attack imo

right… and i’m saying that people are allowed to criticize and dislike religion as a whole. disliking religion and criticizing it is different than belittling a person. i’m not talking ab belittling people on my post.

I understand that’s it’s not something that you just decide you are. But it’s something that you identify as, like how people identify with their religion. It’s your identity. It’s a blood and death cult. There’s no way around that. And, no, you don’t actually love everyone. You can’t be Christian and love everyone— those are incompatible. Per your own mythology.

Again, being gay is not a choice. Believing your myths is a choice. They are not comparable. Criticising religion and limiting its overreach does not harm people (believing in it does, though), but going after gay people gets them killed.

upvote 4 downvote

let’s see: the majority of religious people ESP christian’s hate anyone/everyone in the LGBTQIA+ community, they shame people who have sex before marriage even though it’s not their business, they’re pro life, do i need to go on

upvote 3 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #4 1d

Ah, yes, prayer. Not only does it do nothing, but it serves to insult others while they’re down. “Let me pray to my mythological figure who doesn’t give a fuck about you while I take my money and give it to the church for them to cover up CSA, withhold food to communities ravaged by colonialism until they convert, and slither our way into politics to make sure anyone not like us cannot exist.”

upvote 6 downvote

You seem to forget about the numerous genocides committed in the name of religion. How Christian settlers *specifically* set out to murder Queer Indigenous people as part of the effort to “kill the Indian, save the man”. Oh! Can’t forget the kind and loving Christians who want homeless people executed, think drug addicts are a scourge on the world, did NOTHING for people with AIDS, how you left people to rot in prison after leaving concentration camps simply because they were Queer… nonstop.

upvote 2 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #2 1d

We give to the homeless every week. Most of the money that we raise right now is going to the people that are being denied of snap benefits. And we send care packages to countries who are at war, people who are in prison, in poverty. We just want people to be loved and cared for

upvote -1 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #4 1d

Can’t forget in your own myths: the amount of violence against children, specifically, is a notable example. The constant sexual assault and mistreatment of women. Nothing said AGAINST slavery, only how to keep it up. And no, it’s not acceptable because “it was a different time”. Wrong is fucking wrong. Your “god” can’t say not to “own” or beat other people, but makes it a note NUMEROUS times to only worship it? The fucking ego.

We’ve got a sign with the pride flag outside our door that says “you are welcome here.” And if people get pregnant before marriage they are 100% welcome to the church. They are not sent away or looked down upon

And, as we’ve seen— especially in southern Africa— it’s for conversion. Create instability, promise better, keep you struggling so you keep turning back to the ones “offering help” who created the problems to begin with.

I can’t speak on other branches of Christianity but as for us, we serve the lord and we help others. Maybe the real “mythology” is the stigma created about god fearing people.

upvote -1 downvote

Because we genuinely support them. They can come in and chat with us, get some food if they need it, come to worship if they want, and will be treated just the same. Nobody is going to interrogate them or anything like that

Wanna really help? Let’s start by keeping religion out of other people’s bodies and healthcare needs. Tax the churches since they want to run like businesses with all of the benefits and none of the accountability. Put that money toward safety nets in communities, not Cheryl’s shitty bake sales.

They’re tax exempt because they’re charitable organizations. And I’m sorry that there’s people who want babies to be killed but as far as I know it’s legal in Ohio so they’re getting their way anyways
