people keep saying this shit like the current AI model systems are deeply embedded in our society now. IT IS NOT. we aren’t obligated to use it or be left behind. we don’t have to just capitulate and roll over and let AI just take over everything from leasing office phone calls to the damn taco bell drive thru. 😐 it’s so annoying. the men who use AI are more pathetic bc they’ve ALWAYS had the privilege and the tools to do better than women in gaining these skills, but choose the easy way out.

they are using AI to make CP. how can you continue to support such a technology?

Girl, it is deeply embedded in society already. You don’t have to like that fact, but pretending AI is some optional technology that exists in a vacuum doesn’t make it true. It’s built into Google/search engines, social media platforms, phones, workplace software, customer service, recommendation algorithms, and countless other products people interact with every day.

You can absolutely choose not to personally use generative AI, but “we can just opt out and won’t be left behind” is a pretty unrealistic position when the technology is already being integrated into the infrastructure around us. The conversation should be about how we use it and what limits we put on it… lol not pretending it isn’t already here.

i’m specifically talking about generative AI and LLMs with the recent runaway train companies, led by MEN BY THE WAY, that are forcing themselves into every damn industry when it is totallly unnecessary and strictly a result of the oodles of cash these corporate elites (particularly men!) have pushed to develop it… we are their guinea pigs for it. they didn’t do any testing — we do the testing for them. it’s abysmal. we NEED to demand change, not capitulate and go “damn oh well”

Then you don’t have to. That is your personal choice. But don’t guilt trip other women into setting themselves back. Women deserve a seat at the table when it comes to the control of AI in the future. It’s not going away.

I don’t think demanding change and recognizing reality are mutually exclusive. We absolutely should demand regulation, accountability, and better standards but telling people they can simply opt out of generative AI doesn’t accomplish that. It’s already being integrated into workplaces, search, education, and everyday technology. Women should be part of shaping that future rather than being pressured to stay away from the technology while men dominate its development.

In fact, you are using it right now without even realizing it. Every search you make online, and every social media app you use. It’s embedded already and you don’t even see that.

My point is that women can’t regulate it if they don’t know it. So people are accidentally bullying other women into setting themselves up for failure when it comes to these topics.

If you were told every single day that ai is horrible and scary and to stay away, how would you be able to learn it and stop it? You wouldn’t. Thats why I’m worried.

Please stop talking about text predictions and Siri as if they’re the problematic AI that we are discussing. It’s frustrating bc you know damn well that isn’t what anyone has an issue with. It’s the fucking generative AI and LLMs that have been thrown out into the public domain without ANY regulatory oversight or accountability by letting the public be the guinea pigs. I’m not going to let them skate by like that and play along because otherwise I get left out or something, especially as a woman

Ppl talking ab it that way made me research it at a critical angle and now me and my local league of womens voters are trying to pass legislation banning ai in many security contexts due to it making women vulnerable to predatory spying. Women have critical thinking skills lol theyre not jyst gonna put horse blinders on if you tell them the real dangers of ai

I’m standing my ground against the use of generative AI, LLMs, and algorithmic technology within education and research institutions. Alongside my cohorts in a graduate level Education program, tons of us are fully rejecting and extremely frustrated with the forced integration of AI in their K-12 classrooms and being required within our collegiate courses. It’s fucking ridiculous bc it’s not fully tested, it’s not making anything better or easier, it turns kids into numbers (NCLB Act?), and …

First, calm down. Second, I get that you’re specifically criticizing generative AI and LLMs. But you can demand regulation while acknowledging that these systems are already part of work, education, search, and everyday life. Opting out doesn’t give women more influence over how they develop! it can leave even more control to the men and companies you’re criticizing.

it’s basically just auto-data farming for the AI companies that’s being used. Shared link assignments on Claude become public domain as soon as you allow others to see it via link. It’s not been found to be significantly helpful for education across the board except when looking at specific areas and specific tools, which even then aren’t fully unbiased sources unfortunately (based on the readings in my 800-level courses)

You can’t meaningfully challenge or regulate a technology you refuse to understand. It’s like bullying women into avoiding the internet because they disliked what it represented. meanwhile, the people who learned and built it ended up shaping the technology and its future. If women are pressured to opt out of AI while men continue learning and developing it, we’re not taking power away from the industry… like we’re potentially giving women less influence over what comes next

I don’t think kids of any gender should have AI in classrooms until high school. But as someone with ADHD, I wish I had AI back then to help explain concepts to me that I struggled to comprehend. AI has a lot of negatives, but there are positives to it. It’s the same as the internet. We both weren’t alive, but every older generation says that the response to AI is the same response people had in the 90’s

Boycotting its use and introducing measures to limit its pervasiveness is in no way the same as refusing to learn what it is, in fact its the opposite. Tackling the issue through girlboss feminism isnt going to help women it will just teach women that their complacence with rampant injustice gets rewarded

I’m calm? I’m just passionate about the subject? 😐 Anyway, these systems are NOT part of everyday life. They’re specifically tools that are used for specific tasks or situations. Not only that, there aren’t even any regulations currently on many of these things with these runaway trains that men created. Wtf is asking for regulations now going to do? it’s done irreparable damage to many parts of society, but ESPECIALLY children. It’s very clear what frequent use of AI tools does to cognition…

For one youre not going to get through to me by invoking a bigot and for two im telling you im educated and because of what i know i refuse to use it. In my campaigning i literally do so much outreach and education about it to other women. Idk why you have this assumption that ppl who refuse to use gen ai are ignorant when im literally telling you the opposite

bro Harry Potter isn’t real and you just compared the AI to a fictional evil villain that calls for a genocide, attempted to kill at least one baby, murdered thousands, and more… so like that is TOTALLY not making the case for you either. Plus it’s also not like Harry was like “let me do some deatheater stuff to understand how they work” lmao he read books, he asked friends, he went outside and formed his own opinions! That’s what we are doing!

Acting like being opposed to generative AI and LLMs means that we know nothing about it is just claiming that we are just ignorant and stupid in comparison to someone who does know and utilize that technology. Just because I don’t use AI tools to help me teach kindergartners about what is alive and not alive or teach middle schoolers about what makes a wetland, doesn’t automatically mean i’m being left behind… 😐 it’s not useful, and actually harmful to my industry tbh.
