“A guy wouldnt give me free stuff” doesnt mean romance is dead, it means dudes trying to get a career started. If you really wanted to go out, purchase the book, and then hint about discussing it over coffee or something

I literally asked him to loan a copy (he’d mentioned being excited to have his own copy) not give me one, as an attempt to connect with him and he said what’s in it for me, that’s gross. He could have said “it depends on how many copies I have” or “if you come to the release you can check it out without having to buy a copy” or literally so many responses that didn’t actively make me feel gross for even trying
