chromosomes are far from the main way to tell gender. almost none of the population ever has their genetics tested and it’s certainly not how a doctor assigns sex at birth nor is it how people determine the gender of someone else in a social situation. not to mention intersex covers a wide range of expressions from stuff that you could go your whole life without ever knowing about to obvious differences in sexual anatomy to mismatches between primary and secondary sex characteristics.
