It can definitely be scary but finding the right one can be life changing, especially if you have bad periods

Most people experience few to no negative side effects once they find the right method for their body. They just have to list everything reported! And you can always discontinue use or switch if it doesn’t work out. Are there particular side effects you’re most hoping to avoid or positive ones you’re hoping to have?

i have pretty good periods honestly so that’s not a driving factor in me wanting it

My periods went from ~twice a year heavily asf flow where I was tied to my bed to extremely light monthly periods that I hardly notice. I’m not sexually active and I still take birth control just because it made my periods so much more bearable

i’ve already totally written off the pill so if i was gonna try any kind it would certainly not be that😭😭

I honestly loved nuvaring (except it low key gave me a yeast infection every month but I’m sensitive to hormones so take that with a grain of salt)

all i’m hoping for is pregnancy protection, i’m worried about my mental health because i already struggle with that

Is there a particular point in your cycle where you feel best or worst, mentally? That can help inform the type and dose you should be on to target (or avoid) that particular chunk of side effects.

nope i’m pretty consistent. maybe right before my period it gets a little worse but not to the point of pmdd or anything. i was looking at nexplanon

That’s actually good! It can mean that your mental health isn’t particularly sensitive to hormone changes, so it’s less likely birth control will impact it. Nexplanon is great, it’s the most effective method (even better than some methods of sterilization).
