
So here’s the thing, saying “Oh come if you’d like” or “come if you want” Puts the social burden on the person being “invited.” It’s perceived as a “pity invite.” It makes the person feel like their presence could potentially be a burden. It’s not welcoming language. That’s why I suggested something like “we’d love to see you” instead
Well I think that’s pretty specific to “we’d love to see you” but saying something like “please come if you’re around” is definitely better than “come if you want” or “come if you’d like” “If you’d like” is putting the person in an awkward position. Like yeah *I* would like to come, but do you *actually* want me to come or is it a pity invite
