i feel like everyone self diagnosing themselves and using it as an excuse for being shitty has made it hard for ppl who actually have it. like its not fun or quirky to have autism or bipolar or bpd. its hell. and now ppl dont even take it seriously.

This is why I don’t say I have ocd anymore, I say I have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder because everyone seems to forget that it’s a Disorder and not just a jokey joke about perfection. When people use it as an adjective I ask omgg you also have obsessive/compulsive?? I never meet other diagnosed people!! Because it sounds ridiculous saying it like that. “I’m so obsessive compulsive disorder” Like ew

like im sorry, thats fucked up. assuming u have it bc u have a “special interest”..hey babe thats called a hobby. ur not autistic just bc you really like a certain thing. and its not justification for you to do wtv the fuck u want. like you’re rlly fucking up how people w real diagnoses move through the world bc u act like its a free pass to do wtv w no consequences. like pls for the love of god STOP. ur making it worse.

Yup! Oh, Autism is so cute and quirky!🤪 Until I’m engaging in a lot of concussive self-abuse because I’m overstimulated and unable to regulate. Depression is so deep and insightful!☹️ Until I can’t take care of myself and express how I’ve already tried to call it quits since childhood. BPD is so manipulative!🤬 Except I haven’t lied in years and constantly fear I’ll lose the only people who care about me 24/7, and can overthink the slightest shift in tone and eat myself into debt impulsively.

This is why I don't say I'm autistic, does my therapist think I am, yes, have we gone over all the criteria together, yes, but I haven't been diagnosed as I don't have the money for it, nor are my parents going to give me the money for a diagnosis (they also don't want me to even try). Like I'm not going to claim to be something, without an official diagnosis, cause I don't want to seem like one of those people 😭

I truly think a lot of neurotypical ppl see the rise in diversity and want be part of it bc it is “cool” and “hot” but genuinely haven’t even dealt with a bout of depression or know what it’s like in the slightest beyond normal sadness over normal things. Everyone gets anxious but to have an attack is a living hell. But anyone who’s experienced and had to track their mentality may very well be more diverse due to basic history. That or typicals have never been self aware of their condition.

fr. its the same ppl who claim depression and then criticize ppl who say they have depression and havent cleaned their room or brushed their teeth or showered. like all ppl can deal w depression in some way shape or form. but if u dont understand how having depression makes it hard to do things like that…maybe sit that conversation out.

it is diverse and a spectrum but like..its just not the same and im sorry ur struggling and its not a competition but by labeling it as smthn u aren’t diagnosed with, the people who ARE diagnosed, and do struggle with those things are minimized. its not cool. its not cute. its not a quirk. its very serious and very scary and co opting diagnoses u dont have to be different causes real harm

It’s genuinely exhausting to see people try to “glorify” it all on one end and then completely disregard or disparage those actually dealing with the real issues that come with these diagnoses. Happens 99% of the damn time. “Just get up and clean your room. Go to work. Smile. Exercise. Eat healthier.” Meanwhile, I’m trying to crawl out of my own skin because I hear the buzz of electricity and can’t get out of bed or I’ll breakdown and hurt myself so I’m doing what I need to to keep safe. 🫩

i had a year long spiral of ocd symptoms (rumination, intrusive thoughts about death and violence, obsessions, hypochondria, compulsions, etc) and it was the worst time of my life. it pmo so bad when people reduce ocd to cleanliness, bc even though i don’t have it, the taste i had of it was hell on earth (AND I WASNT CLEANER THAN BEFORE LOLL)

this is smart actually, im gonna have to start doing this. i have it as well and i tell people and theyre like omg im such a perfectionist too. and im like..well no…i have to check that all the drains in my apt and all the corners and floors in my room to make sure theres no bugs bc if i dont i’ll have tactile hallucinations that theres bugs crawling on me and have panic attacks. but yeah haha. thats so funny girl🫩
